Animal Care and Welfare

  • All animals entering our care will always be treated equally and with respect
  • We endeavour to provide the highest level of care possible to all of our animals
  • The needs of each individual animal will always be at the forefront of their care

Animal Housing and Medical Provision

  • Our animals are given freedom and will never be confined to small kennels unless it’s in the best interest of the individual
  • All animals will be given access to food, water, shelter and comfortable bedding as well as suitable outside access in order for them to exercise
  • Animals entering our rescue centre will be initially checked by our veterinary surgeons for any health problems
  • Medical attention will always be sought in a timely fashion to avoid suffering
  • Medical care will be provided for each animal that requires it regardless of cost or complexity
  • Rushton Dog Rescue will only ever euthanize an animal if it is for the good of that particular animal and only when advised by our vets

Animal Intake

  • Rushton Dog Rescue will accept animals into their care regardless of current health or situation
  • We can only take in a number of animals to which our facilities allow. If we are unable to accept an animal, we will of course assist, where possible, in finding another rescue centre or safe place where the animal can go
  • We occasionally accept animals other than dogs but this is dependant on our facilities and suitability

Animal Re-homing

  • We have a strict re-homing policy and always retain the right to refuse an application, and if necessary, will remove an animal from an adopted home if we feel the animal is at risk or harm
  • We endeavour to find long term suitable homes for our animals
  • We will only rehome animals to homes where other animals are already neutered/spayed
  • We ask for a minimum adoption donation fee of £200. This is strictly not refundable under any circumstances

Awareness and Education

  • We are committed to educating the public on good levels of dog care
  • Raising awareness of neutering pets and its benefits is a key objective
  • Providing post adoption contact and advice will be made available to all our re-homed animals
